An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
The sins of "THE" fathers.
Once again, controversy reigns in the Roman Catholic Church.
The
Archdioceses of several large American cities in recent
weeks have finally faced the facts, and come out into the
open to reveal their knowledge that over the last quarter
of a century many priests have been accused of committing
sexual abuse against, and molestation of, their young male
parishioners.
It would appear that many of these criminal acts have been,
shall we say, covered up by the church, relocating known
offenders to far away parishes.
I would suggest that the time has come for the church to
rethink its celibacy policy and allow priests to marry.
Not withstanding the controversy of the origin of the species,
(even taking into account the Missing Link), by evolution
or the religious Supreme Being's six days and seven nights
event, the survival of the species demands that in order
for the human race to have a future, procreative sexual
activity between male and female has to occur, regardless
of the well documented Mary Magdalene virgin birth episode.
The Roman Catholic Church has declared that the sexual
improprieties of the priests, to be spiritual and not criminal
acts.
Absolute rubbish---molestation of a child, or children,
is a criminal offence in any civilized society.
The
Pope has finally responded to the issue by the insertion
of one paragraph in a twenty two page letter which states,
"As priests, we are personally and profoundly afflicted
by the sins of some of our brothers who have betrayed the
grace of ordination in succumbing even to the most grievous
forms of the mystery of evil at work in the world".
Please, will someone out there interpret this pious dictate
into plain English?
In this day and age of sexual revolution and the ever increasing
publicized homosexual activities, far be it for me to criticize
the acts of consenting adults of the same gender engaging
in sexual acts behind closed doors, providing that they
don't flaunt those acts in public and certainly not engage
in same with minor children.
The
Internet has become a source of degrading sexually explicit
pornographic acts pandering to the pedophile community,
which involves, in many cases, sexual acts with children.
This is disgraceful and totally unacceptable to the morality
of normal civilized people.
I have tried to provide constructive comment on this subject
without rancor or delving too deeply into religious beliefs,
acts of a sexual nature, or acts of faith, whilst at the
same time expressing my feelings about what I consider to
be perverse acts of sexual abuse.
Constructive feedback is always welcome!
