An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Unfinished Wars:
A recent spate of violent fighting erupted between Albanians
and Serbs in the Balkan state of Kosovo, despite the efforts
of NATO peace-keeping forces to intercede. It is now over
five years since the war in the Balkans first came to
the attention of the United Nations and NATO, and the
initial Kosovo incidents between Serbs and Albanians became
a problem.
The war in Afghanistan, (where Osama bin Laden and his
Taliban extremists are accused by America of planning
the September 11th 2001 terrorists acts), still goes on
and Osama bin Laden has yet to be captured and brought
to justice.
By the way, if my memory serves me correctly, didn’t
a majority of the terrorists who participated in the 11th
September, 2001, attacks initially come from Saudi Arabia,
and wasn’t their only connection to Afghanistan
being that their training camps were situated there.
If one considers that the capture of Saddam Hussein
did not make one iota of difference to the violence still
being practiced in Iraq, the question now follows: Would
the capture of Osama bin Laden, or even one of his senior
lieutenants, have any effect what-so-ever upon diminishing
worldwide terrorism?
I think that we are far beyond the point of no return
with respect to worldwide terrorism, and Muslim extremism
is certainly on the rise much to the detriment of all
citizens of this world.
