Breaking News.

  • Dateline: Saturday 19th July. London.
It was reported today that the body of 59 years old Dr David Kelly, a prominent British Government official, had been discovered in a woodland area at Harrowdown Hill near Farringdon. in Oxfordshire, within a few miles of his home.
A senior Police Officer, Superintendent David Purnell, stated that a post-mortem had revealed that the cause of death was haemorrhaging from a wound to his left wrist.
Doctor Kelly had spent six years as a scientific weapons inspector in Iraq and was the subject of an enquiry by a British Government select committee into whether he was the source of a report, (obtained by the BBC), which indicated that a Government official, said to be Downing Street Communications Director Alistair Campbell, had "sexed up" a dossier in order to create a case for war against Iraq.
Doctor Kelly had been subjected to severe stress by a somewhat brutal and aggressive interrogation by a Parliamentary select committee, which from the video I viewed, was worthy of the McCarthy era.
Prime Minister Blair on his return from Asia is sure to face a barrage of angry questions from Members of Parliament , which will certainly place a damper on the tumultuous reception that he received from the members of the joint house of the American Congress.

  • Dateline: Tuesday 23rd of July. Mosul, Iraq.
It has been reported by several media sources that the two sons of Saddam Hussein, (39 year old Uday and 37 year old Qusay), have been killed by American Forces in a particular heavy fire fight. Photographs purporting to be the bodies of these two people are being shown on American television. The American administration are promoting the idea that the Iraqi people will be so relieved that the reign of terror is now over that attacks against American Forces will diminish. This lack of understanding of the Arab mentality may come back to haunt them.
Comment: I may be totally wrong but my crystal ball suggests that existing Baath party members may react in an entirely opposite manner to the sentiment expressed by the American Government, and it is entirely possible that killing of American Forces in Iraq will escalate and terrorist acts against Americans will increase. One must remember that Saddam Hussein is still believed to be alive.
