or favor)---of the American Scene
England, oh England - what is to become of you?
I talked to many people during our visit to Britain,
and avidly read both tabloid and broadsheet newspapers
in addition to listening intently to BBC news reports,
in order to be able to make rational observations couched
in British terminology as to where the country and its
people appeared to be heading.
One thing that really amazed me was the ease that asylum
seekers gained entry to the island home of my ancestors,
and more so the treatment lavished upon them at the expense
of the British middle class.
I was made fully aware, by the people I spoke to that
the reason these able bodied males from European countries
did not take advantage of political asylum in countries
they passed through on the way to this land of social
services paradise, which appeared only too eager to provide
them with all kinds of benefits, such as affordable housing,
medical treatment, and social security payments.
They arrive by land, sea, and air at the amazing rate
of 600 per day, (or so the news media lead me to believe),
with hands outstretched to participate in the biggest
giveaway programs in Europe, which are readily provided
by the British Government.
The thing noticeably lacking in their approach to the
generosity of their newly found benefactors appeared to
be a reluctance to work for a living.
I know that perhaps I maybe maligning perfectly good
responsible families who work hard to attain a better
life style in Britain and wish to contribute to their
new country by placing them in the same category as the
people taking advantage of the generosity of the British
people and giving nothing in return - for this I apologise,
for I do not wish to malign these good people who I’m
sure will become a future asset to the British nation.
The bottom line: I foresee Britain heading for a social
revolution, aimed at re-establishing the old premise that
charity begins at home, and demanding that the British
Government take care of its own citizens before lavishing
welfare upon foreign-born asylum seekers
Perhaps Enoch Powell was right after all?
