An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear or favor)---of the American Scene

Immigration problems.
For several years we have had immigration problems in the United States, but since the September disaster we have taken a more in-depth examination of those problems and find that, in addition to illegal immigration aspects, we have been educating at American Universities thousands of foreign students.

Many of these students from the Middle East, are being sponsored, financially and otherwise by their respective governments.

Guess what subjects, (apart from flight school training), that these students are studying?
Surprise, surprise!
Atomic Energy, Nuclear Physics, Advanced Biological Chemistry, Advanced Weapon System Engineering, to name but a few.

Immigration textI know that the UK has many immigration problems, but at least it would appear that many of the US immigrants are at least paying their way, even if there are ulterior motives pursued by the governments who sponsor their education.

One can safely say that on return to their countries of origin, (that is assuming that they do return), that the subjects learned at the United States prestigious Universities will be being put to "good" use by their respective Governments. !!!

Opinion:
I don't know how many of the people of this nation would agree with me, but I feel that the time has come for the American government to re-examine the old adage "Charity begins at home."

Monetary textAlso, whilst not advocating "isolationism", I do believe that we must reduce our generous monetary allocations to world causes in the name of National Security, and provide security to the American Seniors in the form of adequate Health Care coverage, adequate Social Security benefits, and other ways and means of supporting the welfare of it's Senior Citizens and lower income families.
