Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(December 2001)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Last Word.
Once again I wish to inform the readers of this news
letter that much of the information in this document is
gleaned from American and international news media sources,
(including the Internet), and as such is quoted as accurately
as possible.
I try to obtain confirmation on each subject from several
outlets, so the text is a mixture of composite news items
and personal comment.
My apologies for the rather long diatribe but there is
so much negative news in today's world to report on.
The reader must use his or her judgment in determining
the reliability and degree of accuracy of the subjects
discussed, with the exception of my comments of course,
for which I take full responsibility.
The
Taliban without a doubt were one of the most oppressive
and violent bodies of people in the world during the last
quarter of a century and there should be no doubt in any
ones mind that action had to be taken to destroy their
hold on the population of Afghanistan and their support
of international terrorism.
Definitions.
Muslim: Adherent to Islam.
Islam: The Muslim Religion founded by Mohammed,
Thought for today.
Seeing that we the people of the free world did very
little to combat the Taliban during the period from the
departure of the Russian forces from Afghanistan in 1989
until the September 11th 2001 terrorist action, I wonder
if the terrorism in New York and Washington had not occurred,
whether we the United States, or Great Britain, would
have taken any action against the oppressive Taliban regime?
!!!
December, a month that the world celebrates "Peace
on Earth--goodwill to all men, (and in this day and age
of political correctness---goodwill to all women also-the
women of Afghanistan can certainly attest to that desire).
Please let it be so.
The time has come for worldwide rejection of religious
wars.
These
wars, from the days before and beyond the Crusaders, have
always been aimed at gaining power over, and political
control of, the people of this world.
We must strive diligently for the institution of a new
beginning, aimed at a future peace and prosperity policy
for all people of this world.
How do we achieve this?
Beats me!
I'm sure that if I did have an answer to this question,
the solution would be so radical that very few people
would support it.
