An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
News
items.
On the sixth of November 2001, I read two particular
articles which apply to China and fall into the category
of my future predictions with respect to China's future
as a leading economic factor in our future world.
-
China and South East Asian Leaders met recently
and plan to create the largest trading partnership
zone in the World within the next ten years.
-
China has developed, and plans to test fire, at
the end of November, a new long range Dongfeng-31
missile which will have an 8000km range - capable
of hitting the west coast of America.
On the eleventh of November 2001, (after a 15 year battle),
the most populous country in the world, was officially
admitted into the World Trade Organization. Strange coincidence.
The
following day Taiwan was also admitted to the same organization.
It is envisaged that China will object to Taiwan's membership
at the formal signing ceremony, as it regards Taiwan as
a renegade Province, and will insist that Taiwan's membership
be entitled "a special customs territory".
