An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear or favor)---of the American Scene

Predictions for the future
Osama bin LadenThe capture or killing of Osama bin Laden, (actual or imagined), with possible American expansion of the war into other Gulf States, plus their continued support of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian Arabs will create more anger against the United States by the Islamic Fundamentalists.
This will lead to more terrorist action against America, (on and off United States soil).

Saudi textThe future of the Saudi Royal family, and the 8000 American Forces stationed in Saudi Arabia to protect them, will be at risk, and they will become a prime target of the extremists.
We appear to have forgotten that fifteen out of the nineteen terrorists in the New York, Washington bombings were of Saudi origin.

Perverse political aims of American foreign policy showed a reluctance to pursue the demise of Saddam Hussein after the route of his forces in the battle to "democratize" Kuwait---could it follow that many Moslems, including the people of Kuwait, believe that Osama Bin Laden is worth more "alive than dead".

The tide will turn in Kuwait placing their Royal Family, and the three thousand American Protective Force, at risk.

There will be a resurgence of support for Islamic fundamentalism and condemnation of American foreign policy.

Another gloom and doom scenario. (sorry about that).
The world is not a happy place for most of its inhabitants these days.

I understand that before, during, and certainly after, World War Two the scientific community of several countries, (America, Israel, Iraq, Korea, to name but a few), have been inventing and producing biological and chemical weaponry which they insist are bio-terrorism counter measures.

Antidote textThe only snag, as I see it, is that they seem to have not given equal time and resources, to the invention and production of antidotes for such weapons.
In fact they have gone further than the biological and chemical fields and are delving into incapacitating agents which affect the nervous system and creates a state of complete inactive paralysis.

Perhaps some of our leading statesmen have already been selected as guinea pigs for the experiment. !!!

It has been suggested that ultra sound and infrared weaponry is also on the drawing board.

Just imagine the decimation of the world population if some country released a chain reaction, replicating, unstoppable biological weapon.
This is real Star Wars science fiction stuff.

Perhaps we can tag along with the Hale-Bop Comet contingent, and if there are super intelligent inhabitants in other solar systems, I don't think that they would appreciate a whole crowd of contaminated humanoids approaching their world.

Monty Python textAs the Monty Python song suggests "Always look on the bright side of life", for in such a scenario as outlined above "one goes, we all go".
What a terrible thought.

I'm afraid that I cannot claim to be a modern day Nostradamus.
The "predictions" outlined above are more like "reflections in a crystal ball" which have been based upon observations of current events and a vague perception of future happenings, and should be treated as such.
