Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(December 2002)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
It must be pretty obvious to the discerning reader, that
as I publish each of these news letters at the beginning
of the month, a majority of the news items, are from the
previous month. (In this case, the news and comments are
for the month of November, 2002).
For the superstitious readers of this news letter, I
have to advise them that part of this newsletter, (the
13th monthly edition), is being written on the 13th of
December 2002, which fortunately for them is not a Friday.
As
the mid term elections for the United States Congress
have come and gone I have decided, (rightly or wrongly),
to provide some details as to the history and background
of the workings of American politics.
Please bear with me, as this may not be considered the
most interesting, or the most entertaining, of subjects
that I have dealt with during the past fourteen months,
but it certainly is a complex one.
Word of warning: If you as a reader are not interested
in the historic aspects of American Government, citizenship
issues, and the current day mode of electing candidates
for high office in the United States, this newsletter
is not for you, for it involves what some may consider
the ins and outs of political machinations in order to
gain power.
We welcome feedback about any of the contents
of these newsletters. Please send all correspondence to
