Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(December 2002)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Last word:
The founding fathers did a terrific job of establishing
and writing the Constitution of the United States of America,
and unfortunately ever since the inception of this masterpiece,
(which has such great principles for the American people
to live by), lawyers have been trying to find loopholes
in order to bypass the original intent. Terrible shame
really.
Mr.
Bush continues to make continuous daily threats of a war
against Iraq, and the American media wonders why threats
of retaliation from the Islamic World against United States
targets are being made. What should one expect?
If threats are being made by the United States on a daily
basis, surely the people being threatened will react in
a similar manner. Let us fervently hope that both sides
come to common sense decisions and a war, which would
set the Middle East aflame, can be averted.
Thought for today.
This
question is obviously aimed at the American readership.
(Assuming that there are American readers of this newsletter)
Does anyone think that if Republican Senator John McCain
changed horses in midstream and became a Democrat, or
even an Independent, and put up for election as President
at the next Presidential election, would he be elected?

The usual disclaimer.
Much of the information gathered for this newsletter is
gleaned from American and International media sources,
(including the Internet), and as such is quoted as accurately
as possible. I try to obtain confirmation on each subject
from several outlets, so the text is a mixture of composite
news items and personal comment and therefore the reader
must make his/her judgment as to the reliability and degree
of accuracy of the subjects discussed.
