Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(December 2004)
An ex-Brit gives his views---(without
fear or favor)---of the American scene.
It
must be pretty obvious to the discerning reader, that
as I publish each of these newsletters at the beginning
of the month, a majority of the news items are from the
previous month. (In this case, news and comments are
for the month of November 2004).
Christmas Message.
Sheena and I send holiday greetings to all readers of this newsletter with our
sincerest wishes and hope eternal that the people of this world will come to
their senses, stop the ongoing killings, the threat of war, the desire for
nuclear proliferation, and re-established peace on Earth with goodwill to all
people regardless of race, religion, or creed.
Preface:
I am going to commence this issue with a poem,
"The Regimental Soldier" from a book of poems,
written by Lawrence Vaincourt of Canada, which I thought
would be very appropriate on this Remembrance Day 2004,
as it illustrates very vividly the way that politicians
use propaganda and the act of patriotism to induce very
vulnerable young people to fight their wars in pursuit
of World dominance.
We welcome feedback about any of the contents
of these newsletters. Please send all correspondence
