An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
The Royals.
Not
to be confused with the so called TV sitcom the "Royle
Family" that we witnessed on British television when
we were in UK recently.
I thought the TV program to be one of the most disgusting
portrayal of gutter humor that I had ever seen.
I'm not a moralist but this show is not acceptable as humor,
it is in my opinion low life degradation. I recognize freedom
of artistic license, but consider that in this case the
so called humor goes beyond the sphere of human decency.
I see that the British tabloids are once again in hot pursuit
of the Royal family, and this time the target is Prince
Harry.
Whilst not fully disagreeing with the moral arguments against
the behavior of the Prince, and not wishing to come up with
the old psychiatric/religious excuses for adult morality-the
sins of their fathers, etc, I find that in this case that
I recognize, but do not offer as an excuse the past background
trauma he experienced in his informative years, but I do
acknowledge the changing life styles of the youth of today
which I do not consider to be to their betterment.
Whilst
on the subject of the Royal family, I saw what has been
described as that obscene and obnoxious caricature of the
Queen----what a terrible way to portray the reigning Monarch.
It has been suggested in certain sources that the artist,
whose name I will not even condescend to mention, should
be tarred and feather with his own brush.
