Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(February 2003)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
A promise made is a promise kept.
I promised you at the start of this news letter
that I would refrain from discussing politics, politicians,
war or threat of war and above all any mention of our
President and his followers.
I think that I have kept my promise and I do so hope that
you enjoy this very brief, and maybe in some areas controversial
descriptions of America and Americans.
Of course being an American Citizen by choice, I have
the rights under that great document "The Constitution
of the United States" to voice my opinions, right
or wrong. It used to be called "Freedom of Speech"
but unfortunately "Freedom of Speech" is sadly
being curtailed in most parts of the world these days
and is apparently destined to become an antiquated relic
of the past.
I must admit that although I’ve kept my promise---I’m
itching to get back to the current situation in today’s
world.
Disclaimer.
(As most of the information provided in this news letter
is of a personal nature the disclaimer would appear to
be unnecessary, but in this world of litigation one always
has to cover his /her rear end just in case).
The usual disclaimer.
Much of the information gathered for this newsletter is
gleaned from American and International media sources,
(including the Internet), and as such is quoted as accurately
as possible. I try to obtain confirmation on each subject
from several outlets, so the text is a mixture of composite
news items and personal comment and therefore the reader
must make his/her judgment as to the reliability and degree
of accuracy of the subjects discussed.
Sincerely,
Eric (Bill) Sykes. (California).
