An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
How deeply they yearn to be loved.
A quote from a favorite British author about a certain Americans
agency.
And my goodness, were they industrious. If numbers,
money and sheer endeavor could have produced intelligence,
the Agency would have had it by the cartload.
!!!
The donation of large sums of money to many rogue nations,
in an effort to buy love and respect has backfired.
A
Catch 22 situation has developed.
Americas monetary support of yesterdays friends,
who have become todays enemies, has forced the United
States to reverse course and bomb the hell out of the newly
created enemies in order to save face and, of course, retaliate
and extract revenge for terrorist actions against the United
States.
So instead of being the 'beloved Nation' of this world
we have unfortunately become the most hated.
One cannot win in such a situation.
Should we win the war, we certainly will pay dearly for
the peace.
An old British film, which portrayed a very small struggling
European principality, whos main product was a certain
wine, suddenly found that the United States had started
to produce the same wine under a slightly different name.
This of course was leading to bankruptcy of this small nation.
The British educated Prime Minister came up with a brilliant
solution,
"We must invade America and immediately surrender,
because it is well known that the Americans after winning
the war will feel obligated to pay us reparations."
Tell me, is there anyone out there who can name that
film (* )
Many
Americans have traveled extensively in the last half a century.
Can it be said that the transition in years gone by from
The Ugly American Tourist to the Hated
American Militant has increased tremendously?
Such a pity, for as Ive said many times before, and
will repeat many times again, Americans are, in general,
very hospitable and generous people.
Unfortunately American travel will be curtailed from now
on-think of all those dollars lost to the tourist trade.
America is a wonderful country and obviously has its drawbacks
like any great nation, but in defense of the country that
I chose to become a citizen of, (the circumstances of this
decision I will explain in a later edition), Ive got
to say that in just over two hundred years they have welded
together a great nation from the many nationalities who
entered these shores, accompanied by their families, in
search of a better life free from persecution, oppression,
poverty, and famine.
The immigrants were received with great hospitality and
kindness.
The
people of America are a very hospitable nation hence their
generous outpouring of funds, to provide shelter, sustenance,
food and medical supplies to support people in need throughout
the World.
Unfortunately, in many cases this monetary generosity was
channeled into the wrong hands.
We have also been guilty of being the largest purveyor
of weapons of destruction in the world, which is certainly
not in our favor.
