your blessings:
First
things first, let us consider the current plight of
the American and British soldiers, and other nationalities,
fighting the dreadful war in Iraq and thank our blessings
that neither we nor any other members of our family are
being subjected to the violence and killing that is taking
place, not only in Iraq but also in other parts of the
world.
I feel very sad for the families who have lost loved ones in the carnage which
is taking place in many lands, but more so for the young people who are coming
home with mangled bodies and disturbed minds, which many will have to live
with for the rest of their lives.
Why are we suffering the loss of so many young people?
Once again I must re-iterate my personal opinion that
the war in Iraq is being fought for the wrong reasons,
and not only American soldiers, British soldiers, civilian
employees, but also many Iraqi civilians are paying the
price with their lives for the American Administrations
desire to perhaps avenge the September 11th 2001 terrorist
actions by attacking a country that certainly was not
involved in the terrorist acts against the World Trade
Centre in New York, or the Pentagon in Washington D.C.,
and certainly could not be classified as a threat to
American Security at that time.
It can be argued that
Iraq did have a despotic President that needed to be
removed, yes certainly - but even so, did the United
States have the right under International Law to undertake
a unilateral action against the people of Iraq when
several leading members of the United Nations opposed
such action.
It should also be recognised that America,
in a desire to protect the oil deposits of Iraq which
are so vital to this gas guzzling nation, also desired
to protect the investments of the American oil companies
involved in the Iraqi oil bonanza.
