Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(January 2005)
An ex-Brit gives his views---(without
fear or favor)---of the American scene.
It
must be pretty obvious to the discerning reader, that
as I publish each of these newsletters at the beginning
of the month, a majority of the news items are from the
previous month. (In this case, news and comments are
for the month of December 2004).
Preface:
When I started to write this January Edition
of "View from America" I hadn’t yet decided
what subjects I should discuss, although in general I suppose
I should really be aiming my thoughts towards promoting
peace on earth and goodwill to the people of all nations,
regardless of race, colour, religion, or creed, yet I find
myself currently at odds with pious religion and not in
a charitable mood towards it and so initially I entertained
the idea of taking the easy way out and starting this edition
with a recap of the subjects that I had discussed in the,
"View from America", newsletter during the
year 2004.
Then I thought why should I bother to go to
all the trouble of digging through at least a dozen or
more editions in order to come up with the salient points
of each edition, as I figured that if the readers had been
interested they would have read it all before, and for
the readers who hadn’t even bothered to read my words
of wisdom why should I take the trouble to resurrect the
information in order to re-inform them about all the good
stuff that they’ve missed - so here goes with
a variety of current subjects instead.
We welcome feedback about any of the contents
of these newsletters. Please send all correspondence
