An ex-Brit gives his views - (without
fear or favor) - of the American Scene
The
current rise in the number of members of the Muslim
religion:
The
rise in the number of Muslim devotees worldwide is
currently beyond even the expectations of their own
religious leaders and is certainly not being fully disclosed
by the Christian church hierarchy to its members.
The
Christian churches, apparently in fear of alarming their
membership by the phenomenal growth of the number of
the Muslims worshippers, and the continued loss of active
members of the Christian church, are obviously downplaying
the event. When one considers the situation in Fallujah,
where the Iraqi civilian populace fled the city during
the American onslaught and are now being allowed to return
to the city to find that American forces had virtually
destroyed most of the civilian homes and left the city
with no food, no water, no electricity, or other means
of sustaining life.
Playing Devil’s advocate, surely
these are valid reasons why some of the Iraqi people rebel
against the occupiers of their land?
The colonists of America rebelled against the British
occupiers, (who numbered 250,000 by the year 1700), and
fought for the land of their fathers during the American
Revolution, (The War of Independence - 1763/1775), so
why should America be surprised when the Iraqis follow
the same pattern of belligerent rebellion against foreign
occupation?
I am certainly not demeaning the soldiers fighting under the flags of the
United States and Great Britain - I’m just asking the question
what would the American people, or the British people, do in the same circumstances
if the shoe was on the other foot?
A point of controversy:
You now have
some of my views upon religion, so here is your big chance
to agree, disagree, chide, challenge, be supportive of
the position taken, or on the other hand be downright
belligerent and inform me of the error of my ways. This
is an open forum, where any reader with an opinion can
give constructive support, or constructive criticism
of the views expressed - here’s your
big chance to enter the arena of freedom of the press
and give me your views on the subject matter - good,
bad, or indifferent (see e-mail link below).
