An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Religion:
Surely Christmas should be a time of goodwill amongst
all people, regardless of race, colour, religion, or
creed, but even though some truces may have been declared
during previous year-end festivities in previous wars,
the battles for power have been going on during each
and every year for the last nearly eighty years of my
life.
During these eight decades, hundreds of millions
of people worldwide have been killed and wounded
mainly in the name of religion. Political and religious
factions have fanned the flames of religious fervour,
bigotry, and hatred, in power struggles to satisfy their
desires to control the future of the people of this earth.
Their personal greed for power and control of vast territories
at the expense of the elimination of millions of people
worldwide has once again illustrated the viciousness
and violence that the human animal will perform in the
name of religion in order to achieve religious and political
aims.
But do not be daunted, the time has got come when the
ordinary free thinking people of this world will awake
to the fact that the senseless slaughter currently being
perpetrated against all humans, whatever their religious
persuasion, under the guise of religion have got to be
curtailed and I fervently hope the people will rise and
rebel against their religious and political masters and
try to stop this senseless slaughter.
It certainly won’t be easy task as the religious and political people
in power currently hold all the cards and any attempts to dislodge them will
take courage and unfortunately I’m very sorry to say more bloodshed.
After many years of experiencing acts of human bestiality,
I firmly believe that religion is the biggest con ever
perpetrated by the religious leaders of this world upon
the human animal. The flaws in the religious teachings
of the scriptures promoting creationism above and beyond
all else, have become more transparent than ever when
considering the technological scientific advances that
have been made in the academic fields of the study of
evolution of the species, and the potential of intelligent
life out there in the enormous Universe currently beyond
our reach.
One has every right to believe in whatever they want
to believe in and I will always be willing to defend
that right - BUT - if one believes in virgin birth,
walking upon water, five loaves and two fishes to feed
the multitudes, Moses and the burning bush, the resurrection,
and all the other expanded myths promoted by the religious
leaders of this world, in order to control their flocks
of sheep, then one must question the, "Sins of
their Fathers",
answer that the church normally gives to all questions
appertaining to the whys and wherefores of the omissions
and contradictions of their religious teachings.
I would suggest to the church that this is not a valid
and acceptable answer.
Then of course there are the questions
of the scientific beliefs of "Evolution" versus
the Churches message and teachings of "Creation", where one celestial
being created Heaven and Earth in six days and six nights. If one believes
this, and I will certainly defend the right of any individual to believe in
whatever they wish to believe, they must either have a great philosophical
faith in the power of an unknown source, or suffer badly from delusions of
what could be considered to be spiritual wizardry.
