Bill Sykes' - In Retrospect

Bill
Sykes looks back in retrospect at material which has
been published in previous editions of "View from
America", in an attempt to determine whether the
subject matter written then is still applicable in
today’s world.
Article #21C.
The possible future of this current Presidency.
Many people voted for you Mr. Barack Obama in the last Presidential election, as they believed that you had the intelligence and the foresight to become a great President and that you were prepared to look after the interests of the people of this once great nation.
Unfortunately you appear to have been fed the usual misinformation by people who should know better, and you have succumbed to their overriding power and you are following in the footsteps of your predecessor by continuing to justify and support the need for American troops to wage wars against an enemy who is involved on the other side of the fence in these two un-winnable wars that are being fought in the Middle East
Mr. President may I suggest that many of the people who voted for you are now somewhat disappointed and disenchanted with your current decision to send more American troops into Afghanistan, whilst retaining a considerable number of American troops in Iraq.
I’m sure that they, the general public, now believe Mr. President that in this particular case, you have let the people of this country down and instead of looking after their interests, you are is still continuing to appease the war mongers by sending more American troops to fight, and in many cases to die upon foreign soil.
Therefore I’m sure that many of the people who voted you into power may have come to the opinion that unless you make a substantial change in your overall tactics of appeasing some of your military commanders and your political advisors, by continuing to send more and more young soldiers overseas to their potential deaths, that many of the people who voted you into power maybe in the process of making a decision, that if you have not re-applied your basic policy by the time that your first term as President comes to an end, that they will not in all sincerity be able vote for you a second time around.
Then there is the situation of your trips all over the world in Air Force One, as if the aircraft is your own personal plaything, when in many of the voters opinions you should have spent more time back in the White House sorting out the current financial disaster that America and its people are currently in.
I know that it’s a good public relations posture for you Mr. President to meet with most of the world leaders and place before them your opinions as to how the leading countries of the world can join together to make this a better world to live in, but surely does this really deserve the granting, and your acceptance, of a Nobel Peace prize.
As I have said many times previously, I believe that it's about time that you Mr. President, and the members of Congress in particular, remember that charity begins at home and that the first responsibility of the President of the United States and the members of the United States Congress should be to take care of the welfare of the American people, instead of giving all kinds of monetary handouts to such persons as the corrupt President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, and all the other worldwide corrupt politicians, (if one can call them that), who are currently supposed to be governing Iraq/Afghanistan and other parts of the world.
On the other hand perhaps maybe one could say that the well known Oliver Hardy quote to Stan Laurel may appear to be applicable to the current President of the United States and especially to the members of the United States Congress in particular.
Mr. President/Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States Congress, !That’s another fine mess that you’ve got us into".
