An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Homeland Security.
Revelations that in the desire to put Federal
employees in place as quickly as possible for the screening
of airport passengers and their luggage, many people who
were hired were not fingerprinted and/or had not received
sufficient background checks to ensure their employability.
Surprise, surprise, at Los Angeles airport alone, it has
been reported that out of the 2000 plus people hired for
these very important jobs, it has been calculated that
more than ten percent had criminal records.
(The next paragraph shows how easy it is for foreign nationals
to cross our borders, but the consequences for some, were
disastrous).
Smuggling of undocumented immigrants into America
from Mexico.
A recent tragic event outlined the extent of the smuggling
of undocumented immigrants across the United States border
with Mexico and the dreadful consequences.
A few days ago, at a truck stop in Victoria, Texas, a
group of over one hundred undocumented aliens were found
locked in a truck trailer (so much for the vulnerability
of homeland security, which allowed so many people to
cross our southern border with Mexico). When the trailer
was opened it was found that eighteen people were dead
from suffocation. The driver had unhooked the cab off
the truck and had taken off and checked himself into a
hospital several miles from the scene suffering for shock.
He was later taken into custody by local police and charged
with a number of crimes.
