Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(June 2005)

An ex-Brit gives his views - (without fear or favor) - of the American Scene

Last word:
Capitalism TextIs the exportation of American capitalism, (under the guise of democracy), creating a world exposed to the corrupt practices of American Upper Corporate Management, which has become more and more prevalent within the American Corporate world and has even been evidenced in the hallowed halls of American government as shown by the actions of powerful lobbyists trying to influence members of Congress.
The question then arises as to whether it maybe the other way round and American Corporate Management and Government Officials are duplicating the corrupt practices of Third World Governments?

Proposals are currently being bandied around in Washington suggesting that the "Patriot Act" should be expanded in order to give the FBI, and other law enforcement agencies, more surveillance power in order to combat terrorism.
I would suggest that any expansion of the Patriot Act is a step in the wrong direction as it could bring the United States closer to becoming a dictatorial Big Brother Totalitarian State, where freedom of the individual would be severely curtailed.
A recent poll indicated that 87% of the American people polled were against expanding the Patriot act.
