Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(March 2002)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
It must be pretty obvious to the discerning reader, that
as I publish each of these news letters at the beginning
of the month, a majority of the news items, are from the
previous month. (In this case, the news and comments are
for the month of February 2002).
A moment in time. (An interesting event---sorry if
you missed it).
At 8.02 pm on the 20th of February this year there
will be a historic event in time. For sixty seconds only,
time will register 2002, 2002, 2002. (20:02pm----20th
February---in the year 2002). This event of course is
not as significant as the eleventh hour, of the eleventh
day, of the eleventh month, which marked the end of World
War One. (Armistice Day).
This is an event in time that has only ever happened
once before and is something that will never happen again.
The only time that this happened previously, was at 10.01
am on the 10th of January, in the year 1001, and because
the current day clocks only go up to 23.59pm it is something
that will never happen again. Interesting but true.
