Bill Sykes' - In Retrospect
XVII.
(March 2009)
Bill
Sykes looks back in retrospect at material which has
been published in previous editions of "View from
America", in an attempt to determine whether the
subject matter written then is still applicable in
today’s world.
Article #17G.
Personal Comment:
President Obama has promised a number of times that he would have all the American
troops out of Iraq, and many different dates have been mentioned - the latest
being August 2010, but when he says "all", he also
suggests that he will leave behind a peacekeeping force
of 50,000, (the numbers and dates change daily), so is he going to bring
them all home or not.
The answer would appear that he is going to pull out some troops in Iraq and
send them to Afghanistan. Mr. President please stop dithering and get all our
troops out of both Iraq and Afghanistan NOW!
As I’ve said many times before it is about time
that the United States stopped meddling in other countries
affairs, and stopped designing, manufacturing, and exporting
weapons to many countries around the world.
Mr. President: The time as come for you to stick to the
promises that you made during your run for the Presidential
office, and please do not be deterred by pressure from
the Members of Congress, (or any one else for that matter),
to renege upon those promises unless of course it is
of a vital necessity to the security of the United States.
Iraq and Afghanistan are two un-winnable wars that should
never have been fought for the reasons given, and the
American continued support of those two countries, (financial,
weapons, manpower, or otherwise), should in my book be
terminated immediately.
Unfortunately the United States is currently in a situation
similar to the one that it was involved in during the
Vietnam War except that the total number of American
dead, fortunately, is currently very much lower than
it was then.
I’m very much aware, and certainly do not deceive
myself into believing, that the chance of this message
ever getting through to you Mr. President is Zero, unless
of course some brave individual who happens to be in
a position of high authority in the White House reads
this article and by accident, or by choice, just slips
the letter under your door or better still places it
upon your desk - the likelihood of that happening of
course is next to zero.
Disclaimer:
Some of the information gathered for this news letter
has been gleaned from American and International

and my personal comments and therefore the reader
must make his/her own judgment as to the reliability
and degree of accuracy of the subjects discussed.
