An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
A disgraceful situation.
It has recently been discovered that the donation of cadaver
tissue and body parts has become big business.
Skin and body parts have been recovered and processed by
tissue banks for profit - enormous profit! I'm sure that
there are legitimate tissue banks that do a tremendous amount
good for the community at large.
The reclaimed body parts of a deceased, apparently worth
around $200K, have been used for cosmetic surgery such as
removal of facial wrinkles, and would you believe that there
was a suggestion that penile enlargement operations had
been performed using cadaver tissue.
I can't believe that anyone would be so insensitive to use
donor approved tissue for such a purpose.
In the United States it is illegal to sell body parts,
and relatives of deceased family members are appalled that
their release of body parts of their deceased loved ones
for donation, in order to improve, or save the lives of
less fortunate people in need of such donations are being
sold for profit. Whatever next. !!!
The commercial exploitation of donated cadaver parts by
sale for profit, under the guise of a processing fee, is
unforgivable.
