Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(Special Edition - Mid February 2003)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Last Word:
Who is the real enemy of America and Americans,
and the answer at this time unfortunately has got to be
many people of many nations. Unfortunately, it is the
opinion of many foreign nationals that we are interfering
in their sovereign rights, and consequently at this time
we have very few real friends outside of these shores
--- think about it.
It would appear that an increasing number of Americans
are becoming aware of, and are beginning to realize that
certain factions of their elected government are taking
them into what may turn out to be a catastrophic war.
Unfortunately people outside these shores are already
branding the people of America, (rightly or wrongly),
as some of the most hated people in today’s world.
This is a terrible indictment upon the people of America,
who as a whole are generous and caring people, (a little
naïve perhaps when it comes to political maturity),
but certainly do not deserve to be given a blanket condemnation
as an uncaring and militant nation.
In a previous issue I asked “Will this become
the winter of our discontent” when American people
will take to the streets to demonstrate against a war
with Iraq, as they demonstrated against the war in Vietnam.
It will be interesting to see what happen!
Americans need to be loved, and this hatred, (real or
imagined), is causing many of them a great deal of distress.
