An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Last word and thought for today:
A recent furore erupted between the American Civil
Liberties Union and powerful Christian Organizations over
a display in the Alabama judicial building of a tablet
showing the Ten Commandments, which resulted in arguments
for and against the location of the display on the basis
that it infringed the Constitutional requirements of
separation of Church and State.
Thought for today:
In the permissive society of the
world we live in today, where many of the excellent rules
as stated in the "Ten Commandments" for Western
society in general to live by are broken on a daily basis, where greed and
avarice of Big Business entities is practiced, thou shalt not kill is flouted
by many people and nations, and lies are prevalent in the world of politicians
and government officials, perhaps a new version of the "Ten Commandment" should
be written. But of course that would be contested by both religious and civil
rights organizations.
The people of this world appear to be faced with a no win, Catch 22 situation
with no readily acceptable solution.
