(Midsummer 2004)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Final word:
This afternoon, Monday the 28th June 2004, I went
to the movies to see Michael Moore’s documentary
film "Fahrenheit 9/11" and I must say that
I consider this a "MUST SEE" documentary
film for all people, regardless of their political affiliation,
in order to view one mans interpretation of how this
President and his Administration perpetrated the biggest
con the world at large has ever witnessed - The deceit
of promoting a war that never should have been fought
for the reasons given.
The film shows the bumbling inadequacy of an intellectually
challenged President sadly lacking in moral fibre plotting
and conniving to wage war against the people of Iraq
in order to gain control of Middle East oil fields by
using the terrorist actions in New York and Washington
D.C. on September 11th 2001, as a reason, or excuse
for going to war with Iraq. One must remember that it
has never been proven that Iraq had anything to do with the terrorist action
and it must be noted that 15 out of the 19 people who committed this heinous
crime, killing nearly 3000 people upon American soil, were initially from
Saudi Arabia. It was pointed out in the film that after
the September 11 th disaster the United States grounded
all civilian aircraft with the exception of several planeloads
of members of the Bin Laden and Saudi Royal family that
were allowed to immediately leave the country. The Saudi
Royal family still have vast monetary investments in
the United States, especially in the oil distribution
industries.
The
film also shows alleged corruptive influence of some
members of the Bush administration, including the close
association of Vice President Cheney with the Halliburton
Company and the Orwellian approach by the President and
his Administration to control the proletariat by promoting
a high terrorist alert fear factor. I know that I’ve
said this a number of previous times but bear with me
- George Orwell in his book 1984 maintained that the
economies of most countries of this world were dependent
upon war, or threat of war, in order for the top echelons
political and monetary entities to exert control over
the masses and dominate their every day lives. Perhaps
Mr. Bush has even read the book, but from what I’ve
seen of this President’s apparent lack of intellectual
capabilities I doubt very much if he would be able to
understand the message that was being proclaimed.
On
the other hand, I’m sure that a number of the members
of his administration fully understand Orwell’s
message and have acted upon the "Big Brother" premise
of domination over the people by means of the distribution
of mis-information and of course the institution of the
nefarious "Patriot Act" where people can
be arrested and held without trial or legal representation
for long periods of time without any reasons given or
charges made.
One must of course take into account that Mr Moore
has an axe to grind and has a strong bias towards ridiculing
the current President and pointing out the political
corruption that has been a constant and distinct factor
in the Iraqi war, (there again what else is new in the
political and corporate world these days), but I must
agree with Mr. Moore that the President deserves practically
all the criticism that was aimed in his direction.
By the way I must report that when the film that I
was watching ended, the people in the cinema who had
viewed the somewhat outrageous and apparently cruelly
accurate portrayal of the President and his Administration’s
folly, broke into spontaneous applause.
I’m sure that not all the people viewing the film were Democrats, or
even Independents like myself, and if the applause should mean that the film’s
observations and message were taken to heart it does not bode well for the
current President’s ambitions to obtain a second term as President of
the United States.
As I said at the beginning of this paragraph, this
what I consider to be a "MUST SEE" documentary
film, produced and directed by a humorous and intelligent
individual with a degree of caustic and critical cynicism.
