Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(Midsummer 2005)
An ex-Brit gives his views---(without
fear or favor)---of the American scene.
It
must be pretty obvious to the discerning reader, that
as I publish each of these newsletters at the beginning
of the month, a majority of the news items are from the
previous month. (In this case, news and comments are
for the month of June 2005).
Preface:
This edition is intended to cover several
subjects, such as an amusing view of the way governments
operate - provided by well known, (and some not so well
known), celebrities.
Other items include a discussion on
the proposed G-8 Industrial Nations "Forgiveness
of Debt" program
being promoted by Prime Minister Tony Blair, an imaginary
conversation between an American father and son on the
subject of the inequalities of war, reasons why the American
military recruiting programs are faltering, and finally
a discussion as to the future of the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba,
prison camp.
We welcome feedback about any of the contents
of these newsletters. Please send all correspondence
to bill_sykes@huddersfield1.co.uk
