Bill Sykes' Newsletter
from America.
(Midsummer 2005)
An ex-Brit gives his views - (without
fear or favor) - of the American Scene
What
If:
What
if the Middle East oil producing nations decided to adopt the Franklin Delano
Roosevelt strategy that was used in 1941 against the Japanese and cut off all
oil supplies to the western world including the United States in retaliation
against what they may consider to be American aggression and mistreatment of
the Muslim people in the Middle East and other locations worldwide?
What could or would be the reactions of the countries deprived of oil and what
should or could be done about it?
In addition to the Middle East oil reserves, countries
such as Russia, Venezuela, Mexico, and certain African
nations including Nigeria, also produce large quantities
of the liquid gold. Although America squandered its major
supplies of local oil in the last 80 years or so, it
still has some untapped oil field reserves in Alaska
but increased world demand for petroleum products by
nations such as America, China, Japan, and India, who
need oil products to sustain their economies is placing
an ever increasing burden on the oil producing nations.
Is this an indication of a potential scenario that could
lead to the onset of World War Three? What a terrible
thought.
