Predictions and Supporting Information.

I base my prediction upon facts obtained during a trip to China in May of 1993.

Xi'an Terra Cotta ArmyMy wife and I visited Shanghai, Beijing, and other Chinese cities, including Xi'an, (pronounced She-ann), the site of the archaeological excavation of 1974 and the discovery of the "Terra Cotta Warriors".

I'm adding a little more information about Xi'an in order to indicate to the reader the enormous technological impact that China has had on the world in its past history.

In order not to bore the reader I will only go back 2000 plus years to the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang , (259-210 B.C.).

The 1974 archaeological discovery indicated that Emperor Qin Shi Huang had full size replicas of his complete army cast in terra cotta, including horses and chariots.
These replicas are in full battle armour and are standing upon a red brick road in underground channels to guard the Emperor's soul.

It is impossible for me to do justice to this "eighth wonder of the world" in just a few words.

This description of the exhibition of such marvellous technology is intended to impress upon the reader the technical prowess of the Chinese in a period so long ago.

Prediction TextBeijing is a much more modern city than the old port city of Shanghai, (or was in 1993).
Both these cities have populations greater than 12 million people and there lies their future economic strength.
By the way the population of China, give or take a few million, is around one and a half billion people.

Just as a matter of personal interest, during our visit to China I performed a rough order of magnitude guestimate, based upon unlimited people power, low cost labor, available technology, and came to the conclusion that here was a future economic power to be reckoned with.

During Mr. Bush's campaign for President, he stated that if main land China ever invaded Taiwan we, (not him of course), would place our full resources available to the Taiwanese Government.

My comment at the time was "Please do not mess around, (for want of better phraseology), with China.
Perhaps he heard my plea, hence his visit to the APEC conference.

One item of note:
I see for all Mr. Bush's recommendations that air travel is safe and that the American people should go back to ravelling by air, his travel to China on Air force One had a fighter escort.
So much for the vote of confidence, no further comment needed.

I would predict that main land China will challenge the Government of Taiwan within the next ten years. Mark my words.
