An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
My response.
I will try to give a short but fair response to both the
correspondent’s letters,
I
must admit that I lean towards the opinions of Sean, which
deplores the idea of an all out war before all other efforts
at a peaceful resolution are exhausted.
Sorry David, your worst case scenario sets a theoretic Dante’s
Inferno situation which, if it came to pass, (and you were
correct about the outcome) would lead to Armageddon and
the complete and total breakdown of civilized society, as
we know it, (I use the words, ‘civilized society’
with a touch of derision), and the world would be faced
with medieval walled cities and the expansion of War Lord
controlled regimes far worse than Saddam Hussein’s
Iraq, shall I say similar to Afghanistan. !!!
Your best scenario is a little less drastic but still a
major concern.
I
have a terrible fear that the eventual unfettered use of
chemical, biological, and/or nuclear weapons, will decimate
the population of this world and lead to nomadic caveman
type societies scattered in small groups across the globe.
Now there is a terrible scenario for you to think about!!!
Its not a nice peaceful world we live in---but its all
we’ve got, and we must make the most of it, for what
has been suggested in David’s letter is so terrible
that it does not bear thinking about.
