Bill Sykes' Newsletter
from America.
(November 2002)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Readers corner.
For sometime now I’ve had the idea that certain members
of the public who have read some of these newsletters and
who have responded by e-mail, should get the chance to be
active participants in discussions with respect to their
views and opinions on the contents of the news letters or
any other subjects that they have in mind, by having their
letters published.
(Before publishing, I requested permission of the writers
to include their comments in the news letter).
A sort of Hyde Park Corner without the traditional soap
boxes.
Several letters have interested me, and two in particular
I find to be well thought out, and very relevant to the
current United States /Iraqi position, so they get the pride
of place in this newsletter.
The two are very different in content, one looks back at
the price the world paid in World War Two and the subsequent
lessons learned---the other writer looks to the future and
forecasts two possible frightening scenarios, which if ever
implemented would create the greatest tragedy the world
at large has ever known.
Their letters have been edited slightly for continuity purposes
but the basic content remains intact.
