Bill Sykes' Newsletter
from America.
(November 2003)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
It must be pretty obvious to the discerning reader,
that as I publish each of these newsletters at the beginning
of the month a majority of the news items are from the
previous month. (In this case the news and comments
are for the month of October 2003).
Preamble:
I was going to report on the California election results,
but upon reflection I figure that most of the people outside
the California border, and especially readers in the UK,
don't give a tuppenny damn, (to use a British expression),
about the bizarre California election which resulted in
the recall of the current Governor and his replacement
by an actor who knows very little if anything about State
politics or controlling the State legislature. So it's
worth a one liner, and here it is:
"Big money buys election - Schwarzenegger in - Gray Davis out".
I'm therefore going to devote some of the main paragraphs of this news letter
to more important and maybe controversial subjects, such as "What has happened,
and is still happening, in Israel".
