An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Decision
time:
Well I did say at the start of this newsletter
that I would give you my decision as to whom I was going
to vote for, and surprise, surprise - yes you’ve
guessed correctly - I have to vote for the John Kerry/John
Edwards ticket, as the thought of four more years of President
Bush and his associates in the White House frightens
the hell out of me.
I sincerely hope that if and when John Kerry becomes President, he will
live up to the promises he made with respect to the provision of affordable
healthcare for all America’s citizens, reduction of the national deficit,
the stopping of job out-sourcing and the provision of job opportunities within
the United States at reasonable wage levels, and above and beyond everything
else, return the United States to being "The land of the Free, the Home
of the Brave" - and once again respected by all the countries and people of
this world.
Senator Kerry if you are elected and can achieve even half of the promises
made during the debates then you are certainly a person who could be said to
have been able to perform miracles!!!
Surely the voting public of America can see what a
destructive path this President in his arrogance has
weaved and the mistakes that he has made, including a
war with Iraq for the wrong reasons which has caused
untold misery to the families of the young American soldiers
who have been killed and maimed during the fighting,
and whilst on the subject we must not forget the killing
and maiming of the thousands of Iraqi civilians who America
said would be better off after Saddam Hussein was removed
and that they the people of Iraq would be given the freedom
to create a democratic country.
Then there is the aftermath
of the war, which has made the United States and its
people the most hated people on this planet, and has
created huge economic problems, which will take many
years to resolve. Can one suggest that the current
oil crisis could drive the price of all consumer goods
in the United States sky high and produce a depression
bordering upon a similar situation as the one that existed
in 1929?
As I said, surely the American people cannot be so
immature and unworldly that they do not recognise the
harm this President has done to the United States and
its people.
