Bill Sykes' - In Retrospect
IX.
(November 2007)
Bill
Sykes looks back in retrospect at material which has
been published in previous editions of "View from
America", in an attempt to determine whether the
subject matter written then is still applicable in
today’s world.
Introduction to Article #9.
In this edition of "Looking back in retrospect"
I intend to cover three subjects.
1) The potential onset of World War Three! (including "The expansion
of Israel’s nuclear capability")
2) Future life on this planet.
3) Explaining the ins and outs of American Football.
1) The potential onset of World War Three!
The Bush, Cheney, duo, and their other warmongering colleagues
appear to be hell bent upon antagonizing and threatening various nations of this
world to a point of starting an imminent war. Why? Can one say perhaps to satisfy
their own particular egotistical or perverse desire to go down in history as
the two imbecilic human beings who initiated the onset of World War Three?
Since the advent of the Eleventh of September 2001
terrorist actions upon American soil, the American
President has threatened many nations, which have included,
Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, Korea,
Iran, and recently Turkey, (our friendly ally?). Turkey
recently lost at least 50 of their soldiers on the
border with Iraq in terrorist actions by members of
the Kurdish workers party the "PKK", (Partiya
Karkerea Kurdistan), a 10,000 to 15,000 strong Kurdish
guerrilla terrorist organization who have sympathizers
in both Turkey and some parts of Europe.
Then we have the recent actions by the Pakistani
President Pervez Musharraf, (another friendly ally?),
who declared a state of emergency in Pakistan and placed
the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, who had recently
returned from a number of years in exile, under house
arrest. The former Prime Minister’s
return from exile caused a miniature revolution and
a large number of her supporters and others were killed
shortly after her arrival back in Pakistan during their
protest gatherings.
Have I forgotten any other nation which has been threatened
by this American President and his associates - there
appears to have been so many?
We certainly must not forget the Bush threats in the
past, to two of the most important and powerful nations
of the world Russia and China. The warlike rhetoric
of this President, and members of his administration
over the years, which has included false statements
and lies, could result in bringing about the resurrection
of the cold war, which if unchecked could expand to
an all out world war.
Note: Nuclear capable Russian bombers
have re-commenced "cold war" type
reconnaissance flights over the fringes of Eastern
Europe due to President Bush’s
declared intent to install nuclear missile shields
in Poland and radar tracking systems in the Czech Republic.
With respect to Russia:
They have an enormous amount of military manpower,
weaponry, and other vital resources, and it must be
pretty obvious, even to the likes of President Bush,
that President Putin appears to have reaching the end
of his tether when confronted with the audacious declaration
that the United States is considering building advanced
missile defense and tracking systems in close proximity to the Russian mainland.
A recent visit to Russia by Condoleezza Rice to meet with President Putin
and members of his cabinet supposedly to discuss President
Bush’s declared
intention of installing advanced Patriot Missile Defense
interceptor systems in Poland and also the installation of an American radar
tracking system in the Czech Republic did not diffuse the situation
Apparently Condoleezza Rice was subjected to a great
deal of uncomfortable criticism from the Russian President
and members of his Cabinet for trying to promote the
Bush/Cheney missile defense plan, and she certainly
did not receive a warm welcome.
President Bush has stated that the reason for the installations
would be to counter any Iranian nuclear missile attacks.
President Putin on the other hand said that Russia
was adamantly opposed to the installation of such systems
in the countries proposed by the American President,
which in their opinion would be more suitable for shooting
down missiles fired from bases in Russia than missiles
from Iran.
The Russians apparently questioned who would be the
target of any Iranian missile attack.
Suggestions from several sources appear to be of
the opinion that perhaps America’s
intention is to protect Israel, who currently is the only country in the Middle
East area who possesses a nuclear capability. This capability includes nuclear
facilities provided by France and nuclear submarines provided by the United States.
In my opinion, Israel would, under certain circumstances, be the first
Middle East country to use whatever nuclear capability they
have, as they act with a smug, arrogant attitude of "we can do anything we want
to do and no one is going to stop us", as in their recent incursion into Syrian
airspace with four F-16 aircraft. Two aircraft acted as fighter bombers and the
other two aircraft were used to jam Syrian radar defenses. The two bombers dropped
six precision guided one thousand pound bombs on a site in the early stages of
construction, which the Israelis described as a potential nuclear facility.
President Bush refused point blank to answer reporter’s
questions on the subject, and even refused to comment
with respect to whether Israel had consulted or even
notified the United States prior to conducting the
raid. The thing
that I really do not understand is why there were no
published reports of any protests coming from the Syrian
government - most unusual.
In my opinion, Israel is the biggest stumbling block
to peace in the Middle East.
The Israeli’s latest breach of the United States
sponsored "Road Map to Peace" has been
to enlarge 88 of the 122 Jewish West Bank
settlements, after agreeing a number of years ago to
stop the spread of Jewish communities in Palestinian
territory.
An Israeli organization, "Peace Now", apparently
has stated that in addition to the 122 government authorized
settlements, another 105 unauthorized outposts, which
are described as rural communities often consisting
of trailer type housing that is intended to be the
nucleus of future settlements have also been added.
Therefore the Israeli Government have failed to live
up to its commitment to abolish all outposts built
after March 2001.
According to Israeli government data, the number of
West Bank Jewish settlers increased by 5.80%, to 267,500
in the first half of this year alone.
With respect to China:
A number of years ago President Bush declared that
if mainland China attacked Taiwan, (which rightly
is an integral part of China), America would fully
support Taiwan with military aid.
Surely Mr. Bush must recognize that China is a race
of 1.3 billion people and America is currently struggling
to find enough military manpower to control a sectarian
war in a country of 15 million people, (namely Iraq),
with little or no success of ever winning such a war
which has been an ultimate and complete disaster since
day one.
President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and their Administration
warmongering cohorts, are trotting out the same word
for word rhetoric that they used in their previous
efforts to drum up support from the naive American
public for going to war with Iraq in an effort it would
seem to antagonize Iran into a military confrontation
which would give America the opportunity of starting
a military action against the Iranian people.
Surely you remember the previous claims by both American and British
intelligence sources that Saddam Hussein could have, or did have, nuclear weapons
and biological weapons available ready for immediate use - which was proven
to be totally false and was found to be a series of lies and misstatements
generated by the American and British intelligence sources which was aimed
at generating popular support for a war which should never have happened.
Seeing that nuclear experts have stated that Iran
is at least twelve years away from developing a viable
nuclear weapon system, surely Mr. Bush and his cohorts
are using the same scare tactics that they did in the
past to frighten the American people in order for them
to start and proliferate a nuclear Middle East war
which could potentially lead to the onset of a Third
World War.
Question: Are the sanctions that currently have
been placed by America against Iran a prelude to, or
a substitute for, a war against Iran that the United
States can ill afford to enter into for many reasons?
This brings me back to Russia and China, who recently
carried out joint cooperative war manoeuvres involving
the armed forces of both of these countries. Surely
this bodes ill for any country who continually declares
its worldwide war intentions, especially one such as
the United States, who currently does not have the
capability and resources to conduct an all out war
against such powerful adversaries

2) Future life on this planet.
Such a war, as described in paragraph one, in which
nuclear weapons would obviously be involved,
would literally decimate the world population by
destroying multi-million members of the human race,
and also destroying practically all other living
creatures, both on land and water, by the contamination
of all water and food resources, probably resulting
in the spread of incurable nuclear radiation sickness
to such an extent that the small number of humanoids
and animals who survived, and were still left on
this radiation scorched earth, would either die horrible
deaths or revert back to a stone age era of living
underground in deep caverns gradually dying of starvation
and disease.
What a terrible scenario - but it could happen if the
humanoids do not come to their senses and stop the
proliferation of bigger and better killing machines.

this planet", which has been extracted from the

3) Explaining the ins and outs of American
Football.
Seeing that the British public, have just been subjected
to the spectacle (?) of an American football game being
played between the Miami Dolphins and the New York
Giants, on Sunday the 28th of October 2007, which surely
desecrates that hallowed and revered turf of the new
Wembley Stadium, I therefore think that it is only
right and proper that an explanation should be forthcoming
in order to educate the bewildered and uninitiated
British football and rugby fans as to what this type
of fracas
is all about.
One thing I do submit is that surely it would have
been more fitting for this ghoulish game to have been
played on Halloween, the 31st of the month of October
2007.
By the way, whether you care or not, the result of
the fracas was New York Giants: 13, Miami Dolphins:
10.
I understand from notes on the match that the mud-caked
slog on a churned up pitch of the first regular season
NFL game ever played outside of North America was not
a very outstanding or scintillating affair and raised
questions as to "Was the trip worth it?" when
considering the jet lag and the general inconvenience
of traveling so far to play an American game in front
of a capacity crowd of not so knowledgeable spectators.

Ins and Outs of American Football" which has

2004 Edition of "Newsletter
