An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear or favor)---of the American Scene

September Eleventh, 2002, came and went without undue incident.

On the 11th of September, 2002, the first anniversary of the 2001 terrorist actions against the United States, everything went without obvious incident. This could be expected with the intensive security precautions being taken.

Terrorist TextTerrorists may be vile, and murderous groups of individuals, but they obviously are not stupid enough to disregard the warning signs of intense security. They plan to commit their murderous acts when such actions are least expected and when security has become lax due to the lack of incidents.
The highest level of alert, condition “RED” was designated in the days before, during, and after the anniversary date, and is still in effect several weeks later. The following color-coded alerts also apply to US interests overseas.

  • Red: (Severe condition), This is declared when there is a “severe risk” of terrorist attack.

  • Orange: ( High condition), This is declared when there is a “high risk” of terrorist attack.

  • Yellow: (Elevated condition), This is declared when there is an “elevated risk” of a terrorist attack.

  • Blue: (Guarded condition), This condition is declared when there is a “general risk” of terrorist attack.

  • Green: (Low condition), This condition is declared when there is “low risk” of terrorist attacks.

These conditions include other verbiage, which outlines additional emergency precautions and procedures.

One would have thought that High, (RED), Medium, (WHITE), and Low, (BLUE), would have been sufficient, and also patriotic into the bargain. Trust the USA to go overboard with all the colors of the rainbow. With the addition of black, white, and brown we would have a complete snooker set.
