Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(October 2005)
An ex-Brit gives his views---(without
fear or favor)---of the American scene.
It must be pretty obvious to the
discerning reader, that as I publish each of these news
letters at the beginning of the month, a majority of
the news items are from the previous month. (In this
case, the news and comments are for the months of September
2005).
Preface:
I have researched two very important
aspects of life in America, 1) Are we the people better
protected from terrorism than we were in 2001 and 2) A
discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of the Patriot
Act, and have also added two other articles, one sent to
me by a reader from UK that backs up the position that
I adopted when America went to war against Iraq that the
war should never have been entered into and fought based
upon the false reasons given, and another article which
gives an account of the terrible disaster caused by Hurricane
Katrina when it hit the Gulf Coast area of New Orleans
on the 30th of August 2005.
We welcome feedback about any of the contents
of these newsletters. Please send all correspondence
