Bill Sykes' Newsletter

(Presidential Election Special - 2004)
An ex-Brit gives his views - (without
fear or favor) - of the American Scene
Last
word:
When are the voters of America going to step
away from their inherited Republican or Democratic
Party ideals with the subservience it demands and the
attachment of a heavy degree of party loyalty? This
blind approach, which apparently stipulates that this
is the way we’ve
always done things, with its attached we can do no wrong
in our approach to politics, is outdated and outmoded.
When are we the American people going to realise that
the way to make America strong again is to vote for
whom-so-ever or what-so-ever is best for the country
and its people as a whole regardless of political affiliation and not to
blindly follow the party line?
After having said that, of course the British system has the same foibles
with the once a Conservative always a Conservative and the opposing once
a Socialist always a Socialist mentality.
I would suggest that now the decision has been made,
and George W. Bush has been re-installed as President
of the United States, we should beseech him to avoid
making the same major mistakes that he has made during
his first term in office and implore him to make the
necessary changes required to make this country and its
people the forefront example of democracy, as democracy
was meant to be.
Perhaps what we need in this country is a third political
party in order to control and equalize the current fluctuating
narrow margin House and Senate voting powers. Could one
suggest that a United States Independent Party, (USIP),
should be formed, as even a few elected members could
make a big difference in altering the balance of power
in Washington and stop the stifling of bills that need
to be passed or rejected?
