(Presidential Election Special - 2004)
An ex-Brit gives his views - (without
fear or favor) - of the American Scene
Will
things get worse?:
Certainly.
If this President
does not make reconciliatory changes during his second
term in office to programs currently being promoted
and fostered by himself and his Administration on social
issues which will affect the American people as a whole,
then there is no doubt that the anti-social climate
will seriously effect the well being of the middle
class and working class families of the United States.
This will be extremely detrimental to their future
and will no doubt spill over into other sectors of
the American economy, which is currently on shaky ground,
and will also affect American financial dealings with
the international markets.
Lets take a quick look as to how the American financial
markets weighed up the situation.
The American stock exchanges rallied on the news of the re-election of President
Bush and of course certain stocks benefited by the perception that the Bush
agenda will elevate the price of company stocks in the following industrial
sectors which rose on the news: Defence and Technology, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical,
Energy, Financial services, etc for obvious reasons.
The stock of Halliburton
rose around five percent- - wonder why.
