Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(September 2002)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Choice of subjects
I must remind the readers of these newsletters that I choose
the subjects randomly from many sources, Local and International,
by degree of importance and topical interest at the time
of publication, and not for their negative or positive political
or propaganda influence.
One must remember news is news---good, bad or indifferent.
Unfortunately the bad news outweighs the good news in today’s
world, with fire, flood, potential war, human greed, and
bestiality.
All we need now to complete the circle is a plague of locusts---better
than a plague of epidemic proportions, such as smallpox.
I had the choice of two very different subjects for this
newsletter and unfortunately the two subjects that were
hitting the headlines at this time were:
1) The potential for war against Iraq.
2) The dreadful situation of the missing, abused, sexually
exploited, and murdered children of this world, which incidentally
would appear to have been an ongoing thing for many years
but not considered newsworthy until now. !!!
So, rightly or wrongly I chose the subject that I considered
would most seriously affect the future of the whole world
as we now know it, and placed the other subject in my memory
banks for future discussion.
Disclaimer.
Much of the information gathered for this newsletter is
gleaned from American and International media sources, (including
the Internet), and as such is quoted as accurately as possible.
I try to obtain confirmation on each subject from several
outlets, so the text is a mixture of composite news items
and personal comment and therefore the reader must make
his/her judgment as to the reliability and degree of accuracy
of the subjects discussed.
Sincerely.
Eric (Bill) Sykes. (California).
