An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Gathering of the clans.
It has been reported that the leaders of al-Qaeda, the
militant Palestinian groups of Hamas, Hezbollah, (and maybe
other organizations such has Egypt's Islamic Jihad), held
a terrorist summit in Lebanon during the month of March
2002, possibly to discuss tactics to sustain an unprecedented
level of joint activities against the United States, Great
Britain and other Western targets.
 This
is a very dangerous precedent and represents a major change
in tactics.
The United States administration is getting very nervous
and warnings have come from top officials of the US Government,
such as Vice President Cheney and FBI Director Robert Mueller,
to the effect that attacks on the United States are inevitable.
It has been stated that information coming from intelligence
sources suggest that terrorist may rent apartments in high
rise buildings and pack the accommodations with high explosives
in order to bring down the buildings.
This happened in the Russian capital of Moscow and the southern
town of Volgodonsk in 1999, where more than 200 people were
killed when apartment buildings were rigged with explosives
and detonated simultaneously with truck bombings outside
the buildings. The authorities say that the bombings were
linked to Chechen rebels.
