Bill Sykes' Newsletter from America.
(Summer 2002)
An ex-Brit gives his views-(without fear
or favor)---of the American Scene
Taking some time off.
I
have decided that in order to regenerate my thought processes,
(to subjects other than the Middle East conflict), and also
recharge my batteries, I will be taking the summer off and
hope to return in the fall.
Do I hear sighs of relief out there, followed by the comment
of "It's about time"?
I'm not impervious to the fact that some of the comments
made by me during the past ten months or so in my news letters
are open to interpretation, and some have certainly been
controversial---that was my general idea---to create a forum
open to discussion on critical issues facing this world.
You
will notice that I have refrained from including articles
involving the plight of the American Indian and the American
Civil War in these discussions. Both of these subjects are
worthy of more than I can do justice to in a couple of short
paragraphs, and one must remember that I'm trying to provide
information on a limited basis in what I hope is a readable
newsletter.
So, in the words of the song from "White Horse Inn"
sung by Mr. Joseph Locke, (Believe it or not, the songs
of Mr. Locke were a yesteryear favorite of mine), for the
time being, I say "Goodbye, Goodbye, I wish you all
a fond Goodbye".
Disclaimer.
The usual disclaimer.
Much of the information gathered for this news letter is
gleaned from American and International media sources, (including
the Internet), and as such is quoted as accurately as possible.
I try to obtain confirmation on each subject from several
outlets, so the text is a mixture of composite news items
and personal comment and therefore the reader must make
his/her judgment as to the reliability and degree of accuracy
of the subjects discussed.
Sincerely,
Eric (Bill) Sykes. (California).

Thankfully Bill has found the time to send two addendums
to his Summer newsletter.
