13.02.02 Juliasff@aol.com I am trying to obtain info about my mother Gertrude Pearson's family. Born 1921 to Mary Ann Hughes & Frank Pearson. Lived on Manchester St. She was adopted in '29 by Frederick & Emma Pearson of Norman Ave., Birkby. Friends were Betty & Connie Walker. Mum's memory is going fast so I'm trying to write a family history before it's too late. I know it was a long time ago but if any one has any info please email me with Gertie as the subject so I will recognise it. Thanks.
9.02.02 Bill Sykes If you have read the February edition of "Bill's News letter from America" you will see that I mentioned Goitfield Boys School in Longwood and referred to my PE Teacher Mr. Wally Heap. Question: Is there anyone out there who attended Goitfield in the late 1930s and if so does anyone remember Mr. Heap, Miss Barnes, and the headmaster at that time who's name I believe was Mr. Morton. Just a shot in the dark to see if there are still any people still alive who attended or was associated with the school during that time frame.
07.01.02 Gary Mellor I'm trying to chat with people that went to school in Netherton in late 60,s and early 70,s
13.01.02 Jeff Threet If anyone has any other information on THWAITE, please email me.

26.04.03  Ronnie Bray  I would love to hear from any of my old schoolmates that attended Spring Grove School on Water/Bow Streets between 1940-49/50.

I know we are getting along in years, but I hope that some of them are alive and kicking and I would like to talk over old school days, teachers, and find out what happened to them in the 53 years since we parted company.

Either e-mail me at: quill@libby.org
or write me at:

10.05.03 Garo Adomian Huddersfield One brings back many fond memories during the years I spent there as a student from 1963 to 1967. I studied at Huddersfield College, during that time I was a foreign student from Egypt.
I would love to hear from any of my old friends that might still be in Huddersfield.
I have traveled many places no place have I found that matches the hospitality and of the Yorkshire people.
13.06.03 Stephen Holmes I now reside in Vancouver, Canada where I suspect they will bury me. I was born in Huddersfield in 1941 and departed in 1956. I attended Spring Grove School and would love to hear from any one who remembers me. I would be interested in hearing from 2 lost cousins - both sisters Jean & Margaret. They used to live in the Golcar area.
08.07.03 Heather Petty Hi There, I am not an expat, but the daughter of one. My mother, Phyllis Blackie, daughter of John and Emily Blackie arrived in Australia in 1955. She sailed out on the Arcadia arriving in Port Adelaide and then caught the Minnipa to Port Lincoln. She then caught the rail car to a tiny place in remote rural South Australia called Wudinna to reunite with her sister Joan who had married an Australian she had met in the UK during WW2. Of course Mum married and I am the first of three children. A lot has happened since then, but I guess as Mum is now older she seems very keen to hear more about her "roots". Hence, here I am with a few spare moments surfing the net tracking down anything that might interest her. Have found details about the Baptist Church at Salendine Nook, Moor Hill Rd where she played a lot as a child and New Hay Road Outlane where her parents lived in their final years.
04.08.03 Deanne Carter 11 Years ago, my family and I moved to Australia from Huddersfield as you may have guessed, and basically since I arrived i've been trying to track down my friend Laura. I don't know there's a site that I can find her on but I do know that her family used to own a pub and I know which pub it is. I've been searching high and low but nothing...
If anyone can help, please email me or whatever...
31.08.03 Randolph

I seek help in locating an old acquaintance of mine by the name of
Ms Janet Senior, who was from Huddersfield.
We were friends way back in late 1977 early 1980's when she used to work for Jualiana's, on contract to The Marco Polo Hotel's "the Club" here in Singapore.
(Previous postings before Singapore were Lanserote (sp) then Sharjah I think)

If anyone can offer any directions, I would surely appreciate it loads. Thank you. Cheers!

16.11.03 Reg Milson

Hi Huddersfield people!
Recently I came across a cased firearm engraved "Captain Joseph Walker Huddersfield" and wondered if anyone there had any knowledge of this man.

I would estimate he would have lived around the WW1 WW2 period (1917 to 1945). I can not find any information on the net so hope you may be able to give me a pointer as to where to research or even if he was known as a prominent person in the Huddersfield area.

Many thanks,
Regards Reg Milson (Wellington New Zealand)

Ray Brown
Durban
South Africa.

Many of my forebears are from the Huddersfield area being involved in the woollen industry as warpers, weavers &c. These were: Isaac Brown (1769-?),John Brown (1797-?), Henry Brown (1819-?), James Turner Brown (1855-?). They married into the Poskitt, Thorp, Wimpenny, Turner and Castle families. They lived in such areas as: Upper Agbrigg, Wooldale, Cliffe, Scholes, Upperthong, Birstall (Batley) and Kirkburton (to name a few). Are there any Brown's out there who are related to my Brown family line?

Would love to hear from you!
