Let us take the concept of the perception of man and his vanity one step further.

We are a melange of molecules that have developed over time to be sentient beings. This I can accept. But, who is to say that our perception of ourselves, our surroundings and our place in the scheme of things is correct?

Chemicals. Our five senses are dependent on chemical reaction (eating, drinking etc.) to enable us to transmit data, via the nervous system, to our brain. The brain, which in itself, is nothing more than a series of logic gates that are manipulated using electrical impulses, then absorbs the data and translates it into information that our sentience can understand and react to.

This process has been described rather rudimentarily here and the reality is a lot more complex but, as I said on the first page, I am a working class person with limited knowledge, therefore I have tried to explain it as best I can.

So we can reasonable assume that our perception is arrived at by chemical and electrical processes that differ from person to person. Why should we trust these processes? Because we cannot find any other explanation?

By the way if my theories are true all of this text does not exist so you can stop reading here if you agree with me!

Seems a little too convenient to me and I firmly believe that we have no real insight into the general scheme of things but strive to find an explanation for it all!

On the next few pages I will attempt to discuss some of the theories of Professor Stephen Hawking and John Cowie. I am putting myself in the firing line here but I act as a voice of the non-intellectual, semi-educated man in the street. If you disagree with me I am here to be shot down and am quite willing to listen to the opinions of others. After all I haven't got the answers, I only question the theories put before me.
