Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans

Yes -
Tales From Topographic Oceans

Can be regarded as the best Yes album in their history. This double CD, recorded in 1973, is another concept offering, each side of the disks being devoted to each topic, these being The Revealing Science of God, The Remembering, The Ancient and Ritual, this writers personal favourite.

Electric Light Orchestra -
The Ultimate Collection

It is too easy to forget this fine 1970's band that had hit after hit, spawned as an offshoot of The Move.
37 of the 38 'pop' songs on this double CD were written by the prolific pen of Jeff Lynne and this collection of memorable tunes shows just how good ELO were.

Dean Friedman - The Very Best Of Deam Friedman

Dean Friedman -
The Very Best Of

Friedman hit the UK charts in the late 1970's and then seemed to disappear at the height of his fame. A US singer/songwriter his wry humour and clean melodies serve to offer the listener an enjoyable experience.
Most of the songs from his hit album 'Well, Well Said The Rocking Chair are hear plus extra tracks such as Lydia and Ariel.

The Verve -
Urban Hymns
OK so this album is not 1970's music but it SHOULD be!
Excellent material, mainly from the pen of vocalist/guitarist Richard Ashcroft each track living up to the title of the album.
Worth a listen, especially the tracks Blue Sweet Symphony and The Drugs Don't Work.

The Verve - Urban Hymns

David Gray - White Ladder

David Gray -
White Ladder

A 1998 CD included because of its sheer excellence. David Gray is a singer/songwriter in the same class as John Martyn and well worth a listen.
This album also contains a vesion of Soft Cell's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye.
Laid back material!

David Gray -
A New Day At Midnight

This 2002 follow up to White Ladder (above) not only confirms Gray's status as an excellent singer/songwriter but also sees him air his emotions via his music.

David Gray - A New Day At Midnight

Robert Miles - Dreamland

Robert Miles -
Dreamland

Another non-1970's album but one that is great for background music at parties or a long, hard drive in the car.
Electro-pop at its finest although a little repetitive with tow versions of certain tracks.
Yello Revisited?
