David Bowie -
The Best Of 1974/1979
Most of the music on this album revolves around his 'white
soul' period, which followed the Ziggy Stardust era, and
includes Sound And Vision, Young Americans and Knock On
Wood.

Deep Purple -
Made In Japan
Recorded live at Osaka and Tokyo in 1972 this album conatins
some of the best music that the band made although the
obligatory drum solo does sound a little dated. Ian Gillan's
vocals and Richie Blackmores guitar were in fine form,
especially on Child In Time.

Mike Oldfield -
Tubular Bells
This was the first album recorded on the Virgin label
and was also recorded at The Manor, Richard Branson's
new studio in Oxfordshire.
Within 8 years it had sold 10 million copies and dominated
the album charts of the time. For a taste of the 1970's
this is the disc to own!

Runrig -
Once In a Lifetime
OK so, once again, this album is not 1970's music
but it is a fine example of traditional Scottish music
blending with rock to produce an exquisite listening experience.
The album was recorded live in Scotland in 1988.

Sade -
Diamond Life
Once again, not exactly a 70's album (1984) but a must have
for those old romantics. Smooth, seductive and sexy, Sade's
silky vocals make good music great. Just listen to the track
Why Can't We Live Together and melt into a warm, soft daydream. |
| Sensational Alex Harvey Band
- Framed/Next
The late, great Alex Harvey never achieved the success he
deserved and now you can purchase two of his best albums
for the price of one. Having seen S.A.H.B live twice I can
thoroughly recommend a listen. |

Frank Zappa -
Sheikh Yerbouti
Frank Zappa had a wonderful way of mixing avante garde rock
with a wonderful mix of satire and humour and this 1979
album shows him at his best. Just take a listen to Dancing
Fool, Jewish Princess or Flakes and you will catch the essence
of this remastered disc. |
| R.E.M. -
Automatic For The People
Having recently cottoned on to the superb musicianship and
songwriting of REM I obtained this 1992 CD on the strength
of Drive and Everybody Hurts. The rest of the album is excellent
and is well worth the purchase price. |
