My name
is Denise Adair, I am 51 years old. I was
born in Barnsley
but have lived in Denby Dale, Huddersfield with my husband
John for the past 28 years. My interests are, singing,
and writing
poems. I work as a carer for the elderly.and have two
grown up children and two grand children.
As I lay playing on the beach
Watching the tide ebb and flow
I think about my childhood days
The memories that come and go
The rustling
sound of the water
The sound of children at play
Seagulls making all their noise
As they fly on their way
The jingle
of the donkey's bells
As they run along the sand
Kids jumping over the waves
Holding their mummy's hands
What a joy
being a child
With no worries or a care?
But as you grow older
Life doesn't seem all that fair
Oh what I'd
give to be a child again
To run, laugh and play
But the memories will be there
Till my dying day
So goodbye
dear childhood
You surely did pass me by
But adulthood is not all bad
If you just give it a try

As I grew older,
my mum said to me.
This is the place where I'd like to be.
A place there's no hurt or no pain.
Where I never have to worry again.
A place where hearts are never broke,
Where true words are always spoke.
A world without wars,or nightmares for me.
This is the place I want to be.
Then the day came, my mum passed
away.
I remembered the words she use to say.
Then one night as I lay fast asleep.
I felt someone tugging at my sheet.
I looked up with a tear down my face.
There was my mum in all her grace.
She said dear daughter, dont you grieve no more.
As I have found that place I was looking for.
Where
the mist rolls over the heather,
And
the hills roll down to the sea.
Where
the mountains reach to the sky,
This
is were i long to be
Where
the men wear the skirts,
And
the ladies wear the trews
Where
the rams run around,
After
all the little ewes
Where
stags and deer run so freely,
Free for
every one to see.
Where
the snow stays on the mountains,
This is
where i long to be.
There's
a loch called loch lamond.
And the
countrys is nice and clean.
There's
a loch they call loch ness
Where
a monster may or may not be seen.
There
are many lovley cities,
They
are beautiful to see.
But
right up in the mountains,
Is
the place i long to be.

My
daughter's past her driving test,
And
now she's got a car.
She
said I'm going for a drive,
I
said don't go too far.
We
went down the motorway,
In
the back I did cower.
We
headed towards Cleethorpes,
She
was doing 90 miles per hour.
We
nicknamed her lead foot,
Her
foot's never off the floor.
I
was hanging on for my dear life,
To
the ruddy door.
I
new it was not my time to die,
I
said will you slow down.
I
think she'll join the circus,
Cos
she drives like a ruddy clown.
When
she asks would you like a lift,
I
will politely decline.
Saying
you go in your car my dear,
And
I will go in mine.
But
dont take this to heart my dear,
I
know it was your first day.
But
untill you've had some experience,
I'll
stay out of your way.

Crabs
and shrimps, lobsters as well.
Oysters
and starfish, snails in their shells.
Rippling
motion of the incoming tide,
The
sea the ocean is vast and wide.
White
waves that hit the shore,
Leaving
you thirsty and hungry for more.
Sounds
of the shingles hitting the beach,
Always
the good shells are out of reach.
Sailing
vessels large and small,
Long
ones fat ones and some tall.
Fishermen sat on there boats,
Watching
their lines and their floats.
Children
playing in the sand,
Making
sand castles with their hands,
Buckets
and spades, donkeys as well,
The
ice-cream van ringing his bell.
The
tide comes in, you've had your fun,
Go
inside now out of the sun.
The
last of the beach just over the side,
Being
swallowed up by the in coming tide.

At
night I roam,where no-one can see.
My
friends come alive, just to be with me.
In
day time there's danger,They hunt and kill.
They
call it sport, but for me its no thrill.
My
cubs are frightened, bright lights they see.
Even
at night there's still danger for me.
They
call them cars, they speed so fast.
I
race over the road, and home at last.
Now
safe in my den,By my cubs side.
Where
do I go from here? There's nowhere to hide.
For
in this world, Where nature is free.
Will
there ever be a safe home for me?
Free
from the car's, the hound and the gun.
Please
leave me alone to have some fun.
There
are many animals in fear of losing their grace.
And
have no worse enemy than the human race.
Everyone goes through a bad patch,
And no-one quite knows why.
Dont bottle up your feelings,
Dont let your love run dry.
As
long as theres a shining light,
A sparkle in your eye.
loves always worth fighting for,
You only have to try.
At
times you think that you cant cope,
And to end things would be best.
But let me tell you now kids,
Its just one of lifes big tests.
Just
think about the good times,
And the bad will fade away.
Hold on to what you have,
Dont let your love go astray.
When
you think you have got it bad,
And dont know what to do.
Just remember out there in the world,
someone somewhere is worse of than you.
So
keep picking up the pieces,
And make a brand new start.
The only thing you cant mend,
Is a broken heart.
Do
you remember when you were a kid,
The
silly things that we did.
Playing
hopscotch with a shoe polish tin,
And
putting bangers in your bin.
Playing
for hours with a stocking and a ball,
Throwing
it into the air and against the wall.
Trying
to keep a hula-hoop on your waist,
The
sweets we would eat with a bitter taste.
Hide
and seek was a good game,
Kick
can kettle was just the same.
You
would roll a newspaper up real tight,
Then
whack someone's knees with all your might.
Girls
played with dolls, boys played with guns,
But
no matter what we still had our fun.
Then
we grew up and went our separate ways,
But
those were the good old days.
