Poetry By Jewels (A long lost love)
Untitled-May 1976
Sitting in this darkened room where the sun never shines,
I chanced one evening to look out of the window,
And saw, flying high above the rooftops, a silvered kite,
Caught by the suns faint eventide rays, shining,
Glittering, dancing high and low in free ecstasy,
It's long streamer more beautiful than any bird in flight.
Diving and looping against a powder blue sky,
Made lighter by faint whips of whitest cloud.
The kite displayed to the world it's joy in being free
With a mindless elation, soaring to heights,
Which man can never achieve, lifting me also.
Above the houses my mind went out to join that kite,
Leaving my earthly thoughts I danced on high,
With the suns fading rays still lighting the sky.

Untitled 2
In the last throes of anguish,
He tossed the flame aside.
The flame,
The flame,
Of life.
Of life - and tossed aside,
In the last throes of anguish.
Untitled 3
Brown eyes, soft and faithful,
Like those of a loyal spaniel,
Look down into eyes of grey-blue.
Strong hands, working hands,
Reach out for their smaller counterparts,
And take hold of them, firmly, lovingly.
Then arms enfold her to him, held close.
If only this were lasting, she thinks,
If all the lonely hours could find,
Compensation here in his arms.
But his love is all too brief,
And she is left, cold and afraid.
Afraid of the pain he causes her,
Afraid for their lives and their futures.
Yet she loves on, and he, so often seemingly,
Unaware of her presence and her love,
Climbs on his motor bike and rides away.
